Senior Electrical Design Engineer – Truck/Bus Industry


Senior Electrical Design Engineer for commercial vehicle manufacturer. Rid yourself of the cubicle Dilbert Syndrome and work on a variety of custom designs in vehicular manufacturing. Variety is the common denominator as the Sr. EE; you will be working on anything from I/O programming, creation of schematics and harnesses, designs for Information Transportation Systems, Alternative and Hybrid vehicles, surveillance systems, to new control schemes for existing systems and new product integration/existing product optimization.

You will be a key member of the engineering team for the leading transportation manufacturing business. Using your design expertise and project management abilities rooted in solid engineering principles, you will be responsible for the design and development of new product and the support of existing product. You should be capable of working independently with only general direction from the Engineering Manager. Assignments are broad in scope and highly complex requiring outstanding creativity, superior initiative, judgment and leadership.

What we need from you:


-Highly professional and effective communication skills and the ability to interface with people throughout the organization and supplier/customer base.

-Familiar with ladder logic and PLC systems.

-Experience in Performing a wide variety of calculations and software aided analysis related to EMI, Antenna Locations, Power consumption, tolerance analysis, noise and vibration, battery technology, NFPA-70, APTA Bus Procurement Guidelines, CR47, FMVSS, J-1939, motor controls, etc. to support design decisions.

Experience using software such as Allison DOC, Cummins Insite, and CAN based tools in design and problem resolution.

-Very creative and innovative approach to electrical and electronic solutions.

-Highly developed project management skills, leadership ability, independence and initiative.

-Highly developed level of Electrical Engineering aptitude and expertise.

-High energy with an enthusiasm for automotive products.

-Thorough understanding of Autocad 2D, basic skills in 3d Inventor desirable.

-Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering required plus

-5 years of Heavy Duty Vehicle experience required.


Location: East Bay area, CA.

Calibration Engineer - Automotive


Seeking an Automotive Engineer to lead automotive engine calibration development activities focused on multiple automotive applications. Develop and optimize gaseous fuel systems to meet emissions, fuel economy, drivability, power, torque, and warranty objectives.


Our client designs, manufacturers and supplies alternative fuel systems to Original Equipment Manufacturers and aftermarket installers which allow fleet and vehicle owners to enjoy the many benefits of clean burning Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) or Liquified Petroleum Gas (LPG / Propane). These 'green' fuels provide significant fuel savings, produce fewer emissions and are an integral part of reducing our dependence on foreign oil. What you will do:


• Lead automotive engine calibration development activities focused on multiple automotive OE applications.

• Coordinate, via interaction with the Project Engineer, Program Manager and the customer engine controls and calibration engineering activities.

• Provide technical input and interaction between engineering, service, sales & marketing and production.

• Provide input to planning and budget activities.

• Conduct system level dynamometer testing.

• Coordinate development actions with Project Management, Engine Engineering, Sales & Marketing and Manufacturing.

• you will be refining existing product vehicles (developing Bi Fuel and Dedicated CNG & LPG fuel systems)

What we need from you :


• BSME or BSEE.

• 5+ Years Experience in current automotive engine / powertrain calibration

• Advanced knowledge of engine operation principles, dynamometer testing, instrumentation and analysis.

• Technical leadership in a team environment.

• Working knowledge of Data Analysis Tools and Microsoft Office.

• Working knowledge of SAE J1979.

• OBDII Experience (Big Plus)

• Recent mainstream gas engine calibration/drivability experience (within a few years)

• Limited travel required

Exciting Junior-level Engineering opportunity to make a difference in the growing alternative fuels industry. We're looking for an energetic and motivated team member to further improve our product offerings for high pressure CNG and H2 components. Tasks include requirements definition, prototype/production design, testing, production launch and after sales support.

Summary of Tasks:

• Define, design, test and release new designs for CNG & H2 components such as pressure regulators, tank valves, PRD's and systems containing all of these

• Improve and cost reduce existing products

• Benchmark existing components and systems

• Analyze internal test data to iterate/improve designs

• Process field issue data to determine root cause and improve design

• Provide technical support to purchasing, production, customer service and quality assurance

• Develop test procedures, conduct tests, analyze data and write test reports

• Champion 8Ds, working closely with the cross functional team

• Understand and apply APQP principles (DFMEA, DVP&R...)

• Prepare and present technical presentations for internal and external customers


Qualifications:

• 2 to 3 years working experience in an applicable Engineering role in systems component design

• BS Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.

• Demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline driven environment

• Solid Works experience preferred, MS-Office products experience

• Effective communication skills & ability to work within a team

• Strong problem solving skills

• Self Starter, Initiative, Motivated

• GD&T experience

Automated Machine Designer – NGV Fuel Systems Manufacturing


Seeking an Automated Machine Designer to design and create integrated manufacturing assembly and test systems for deployment into a light industrial manufacturing environment.

The position requires a self-motivated/self-directed individual who will work with Design Engineering personnel and Operations personnel to successfully launch new products; maintain and improve existing products and manufacturing processes, focusing on efficiency and quality of results. Though not a supervisory position per se, a successful candidate will be capable of directing a small group of support personnel effectively.


What you will do:


• Develop automated machine requirement specifications, system concepts, CAD generated machine layouts, detail drawings, and BOM’s based upon performance requirements provided from Design Engineering personnel.

• Participate in product development meetings and make recommendation for product design changes to enhance manufacturing and assembly.

• Meet with vendors to discuss assembly and equipment costs.

• Conduct design reviews during construction of assembly and test equipment; conduct proof of concept experiments and design of experiment tests.

• Install automation and transfer automation programs to production in a timely manner.

• Analyze process performance data and use production personnel input to drive process improvements and change.

• Develop SOP’s operation and maintenance manuals, set-up and calibration procedures.

• Mentor and direct skilled trades personnel to aid in the implementation of manufacturing process improvements.

• Familiarity with pneumatics a strong plus.


What we need from you:


• BSME or BSEE minimum.

• Five to seven year’s machine/manufacturing equipment design experience with demonstrated success in a “hands on” development/implementation environment.

• Experience using PLC.

• Experience programming with Labview

• Fluent in SolidWorks.

• Strong written and verbal communication.

• Ability to present formal presentations to colleagues and management.


Reports to Chief Engineer

Location: Greater Los Angeles, CA. area
